What To Do When Your Roku Remote Blinking Green Light

A green blinking light at the Roku remote suggests that it is making an attempt to pair. To clear up this, download the Roku controller app from Play Store to stop the flashing green light. You also can solve the Roku remote blinking green with a manufacturing unit reset.

If It Continues To Blink…

Switch The Roku Device Off

If your Roku remote still isn’t pairing, there are a few matters you can do to troubleshoot the issue.

Power off your Roku device and remove it from its power supply or from the back of your TV. While your Roku device is unplugged, replace the batteries on your remote. Don’t overlook they're placed in the remote with the positive and negative poles facing the suitable direction (I do this incorrectly occasionally).

Once the batteries were replaced, plug your Roku device back in and turn it on. It should now have the green light blinking green but that’s expected.

The next step is to power the Roku device back on by switching the power back on or plugging it into the TV. The Roku tool will take a minute or to energy on and the green light will stop blinking when it has efficiently paired.

Kill power to the Roku device

So this step is a slight variant of the original step above. Note that all steps performed should be done even as the TV is ON.

The first thing to do is take the batteries from your remote.

Next, kill the power of your Roku device. Depending on which version you've got this might suggest unplugging your Roku device from its power source or removing the Roku device from the back of your TV.

While your Roku device is powerless, replace your remote batteries, ensuring the positive side goes to positive, and the negative to negative.

Replace Batteries

Ensure that new batteries are installed in the remote control. This solves the problem in lots of cases. But if you purchased new batteries not long ago, you may take the batteries out, wait for 30 seconds, and place them inside again.

This ensures that the orientation is correct. You’d be surprised to know that a wrong battery placement is a prime reason for the Roku remote blinking green light. If you want to test the estimated battery level of your batteries, follow the instructions:

  • First, choose Settings on the home screen.
  • Select remotes & devices. From there, choose remotes.
  • Select Gaming Remote, and press About.
  • Here, you may view the remaining battery percentage and other details.
  • In case the battery is low, replace the batteries.
